Aquatic Edge Success

posted at 20h19

On the weekend I was lucky enough to run into Karlyn and Eric who were running a swim clinic at the South West Sports centre where I do all my swim training.
I didn’t book into the clinic as I had night shift work over the weekend where I work from 6pm to 6am, so, it was impossible to stay awake and do the clinic.
On Saturday I headed to the pool about 1pm to swimand saw them there. They saw that I was an advanced swimmer and I was lucky to be just finishing my session when they were finishing the seminar so had a chat to meet them next morning for a swim session at 10am...puhh that would be an effort to come home from night shift, have 2.5hrs sleep and then head to the pool so I made the effort! And it was truly amazing and I am so happy to meet this couple and their enthusiasm for someone like myself to improve my stroke was amazing.
I thought I was just going to have a swim session with them, but, I was lucky to get about an hour of one on one coaching from Karlyn and Eric.
I had stagnated in my swimming in my mind in the sense that, I was not 100% sure what I was doing with my stroke, I knew something was not right and at my level which is a solid swim level, I just didn’t have anyone around to see what I felt was wrong.
But, Karlyn took me through their concepts and believe me, as an athlete/coach myself, I learnt very much in such a small space of time and also have my enthusiasm back 100% to swim faster rather than to accept where I was at.
Aquatic Edge will be in France around March 2009 for the world masters and they will be also running some swim camps.
Anyone interested in further swim development should place their interest to their site or with my site and regardless if your a good swimmer already or just starting and looking for improvement, this is the best place to look. As an athlete and future coach I am for sure adding their methods to my knowledge bank.
Thanks very much Karlyn and Eric, GREAT JOB!
See you soon

P.S
They also have a DVD which would be a great introduction of what they are about and the techniques used and so on.

My sponsors for 2008

posted at 18h02

Whats been news?

Firstly I would like to welcome and thank my new sponsors for 2008 season : Planet x, Aquaman, Kona Endurance and Rudy Project which are great companies in which I am very proud to be a part of. Thanks in advance.

I am still training in Bunbury 2hrs South of perth and the weather is still hot and humid here and I really cant wait for the heat to ease off, we have days from the low 30 degrees to the 40's, its been the hottest summer recorded for 30 years. I am sorry...I know that it is cold in Europe, but, extremes in all things except for extreme sports are too much, especially training all the time in hot conditions in which I believe is not always good for the body, thats why I enjoy the nice summers in Europe.

Training is going fairly well, as well as can be expected with my 50 hrs working a week and I really cant wait to get back to Anne-Sophie, France and finally geting the season under way. Im in a tired stage at the moment and I have backed off totally from any hard work until I come good. I have about 6 weeks before I arrive in France and I will be doing 2 x 3 week blocks of hard interval and strength work which will then take me to my full time training again in France where after another few weeks be ready for some solid racing and I am looking foward to working with my team mates and club "Vesoul " and geting back into the consistent racing scene again.

I would like to mention my sadness to hear about Heath Ledger who I believe as many did to be one of the great actors next to Mel Gibson, Hugh Jackman, Kate Blanchett, Bryan Brown....and the list goes on. Heath will be missed and he has left a great question again in life as many have as to why these things happen and the death of many of our famous people around the world seem to happen in strange circunstances. R.I.P Heath and thank you for blessing the world with your fantastic acting abilities.

I would like to motivate everyone and to mention the season is not far off, so we all really should be coming into a level of fitness and the first months of racing all maped out.

B safe on the road riding and train smart.

Salut!
